Description
This 250-amp alternator (conservatively rated) for Jeep Wrangler 3.6L engines will provide a massive increase in amperage output vs. the stock small case 160-amp alternator. We use pure copper, oversize diode rectifiers for outstanding durability at this output level. A higher output alternator will provide more electrical support for aftermarket accessories such as light bars, winches, coolers, air compressors, inverters, large stereos, and more! Even if not UPGRADING this makes a great OEM replacement for a worn out or tired alternator.
This LARGE case style offering provides appx. 200 amps at just vehicle idle speed which is extremely useful in heavy winching situations for off-road vehicles. This application is a factory style reverse mount installation which requires the proper reverse rotation alternator rotor to keep the alternator as cool as possible just like the factory intended. Beware of other offerings that DO NOT use this rotor as it creates a 30% loss in cooling that can result in premature failure, especially in non-moving vehicle usage.
Be sure to add upgraded OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) 0-gauge wire when choosing this alternator for maximum performance and durability. We recommend one 0-gauge power and one 0-gauge ground cable coming from the alternator going directly to the battery. OFC type cabling is best due to its high current transfer ability and its resistance to corrosion from outside elements such as mud/water/temperature.
